  1. For role players, I know it tough not to be social as its the heart and soul of what a role players is. To be among friends, socializing, having fun and escaping the reality that we live in. This time for all of us is hard, but there will be an end to it. There will be that glorious sound of dice rolling against the table, staying up to the wee hours of the night, laughing and enjoying what we all love so much- role playing with those we call family. Hang in there all (Sorry for the short outage of the website!) Best and stay safe! Magman

  3. Malapan Kingdom Malapan Kingdom is one of several kingdoms located on the continent of Greater Larigia. The kingdom of Malapan is not known to many outside of its borders. That is not due to any sort of heavy-handed ruling system, but instead by the remoteness of the kingdom. It is a coastal kingdom, with its entire western coast touching the Parthenian Ocean. It's north and eastern borders, if they could even be considered "true" borders, are open to the vast central area of the continent known as "The Rugged Lands". The majority of the towns and villages in the Malapan Kingdo

  8. Greeting D6 community! Several months ago, I had to abandon the current setup for the forums because of continued hacks into the board. Each time I cleaned up and tried to secured the boards, I failed and the hacks persisted. I didn't give up but did abandon the outdated vbulletin board. I understand there are still many sites out there running this same version 4 of vbulletin without issue. I didn't have the time to dig deep into why my board had so many security issues - obviously, the software can be maintained by those with more of a background to its coding than I. So rather than

  9. Jerry D. Grayson of Khepera Publishing, creator of D6 POWERS, GODSEND Agenda, HELLAS: Worlds of Sun and Stone, ATLANTIS: The Second Age, and more, has a Kickstarter for a new Open D6 game that uses an update to the D6 Legend system. This is complete game with a setting based on superheroes vs. chthonic entities, but the game is billed as being versatile enough to handle any heroic action adventure genre. It has already far exceeded its funding goal, and Jerry is going crazy with adding on to the packages. I'll highlight two: $20 (Digital only) - PDF of the MYTHIC D6 roleplaying ga

More news to come, but for now... here's a temporary logo I worked up. Stay tuned as we will be seeking playtesters to help break it and build it back up! Cheers!

  12. Hi there, I hope I'm posting this in the right place! I've just started a kickstarter campaign for Exilium, a re-imagining of my 'In Flames' Open D6 roleplaying game which I published a few years ago. Exilium will include the main game and both sourcebooks in one rulebook, with full colour art and a layout by Paul Bourne of The One Ring fame! I'm a big lover of the D6 engine from back int he Start Wars days, and really happy to be able to use it for my own games. Anyway, if anyone's interested please take a look at the kickstarter and spread the word, and any questions, fire away! Li

Out of respect for their property I omitted the Farnsley's Phantasm Investigations and Precinct '77 in their entirety. I know the game mechanics are are OK to include, but chose not to mess with what they have staked out. Enjoy. Mini_Six_SRD_V1dot0_Final.odt Mini_Six_SRD_V1dot0_Final.pdf Mini_Six_SRD_V1dot0_Final.rtf

  14. Hi J! Welcome to the board! I have some things to share, but unfortunately, things have been super busy for me of late, and as such I haven't had enough time to sit down and really give my reply the attention it needs. If you'll just be a little patient, I have a day off tomorrow and I'll try to contribute well enough to make your patience worthwhile.

  15. Many years ago, back in the 90s, I melded Wound levels and Health Points together. I used it in my fantasy game long before D6 Fantasy ever came out. I got the idea from the "D6 System" cookbook. Worked like a charm for years of playing with multiple people! Basically the Health Points were calculated and kept track of. When a character was hit, they roll Constitution+armor to resist the damage. If any damage exceeded the resistance, the difference was subtracted from the Health Point total. If the character lost from 1 to 10% of their Health, they were considered "Scratc

  16. Masts have a bearing on speed based on the amount of sails on them. You can have a single masted ship with a lanteen sail on it and it can move along nicely. You can have a two-masted ship with square sails on it that can go faster, but handle worse when traveling close-reach or trying to go close-hauled. A ship with 3 masts can have a mix of square sails for speed and some lanteen sails for maneuverability. The problem with each is that the bigger ship you get to handle more masts, the heavier that ship becomes and the more sails are needed to make it move. So, depending on how you

  17. You intending to keep this very generic? If so, the 5 basic types you mention will work. If you want more emphasis on types, you have Sloops, Schooners, Corvettes, Snows, Frigates, and Ships of the Line. The Sloop Category has Sloops and (if you want to borrow from the old Pirates computer game) Pinnace. Typical of 6 to 10 guns, but could be up to 12 or 14 guns on a sloop-of-war Schooner Category can have Schooners and Xebecs. Typically 8 guns on up to 12-14. Corvettes Category is a bit of misnomer, as a Corvette is military. But there are Brigantines, Brigs and B

  20. I'll mention what I've done, not knowing for certain if you have something like that in your game, but perhaps you can use the idea in theory. Instead of having "life drain" in that it removes skills or attributes, I have done where it "adds Fatigue". I used the Fatigue aspect as a way to make it so people didn't just fight their way through everything all of the time, or sleep in their armor. Each point of Fatigue reduced from their die rolls for ALL skills and attributes (except resistance rolls to limit damage). So 1 Fatigue is a mild annoyance. They just minus 1 from the total eac

  21. First off, Welcome! It's good to see someone else here. Sword and Sorcery tends to have people starting out broke at the beginning of each adventure. Funds dice represent the overall buying power of characters through bank accounts, investments, trade goods, etc... If you want to keep players from simply buying whatever, then I suggest doing away with the Funds dice completely. Switch over to coinage, and remind players that in the setting, they're adventuring to live the good life whenever they can. Between adventures, they sell, trade, and give away their loot so they can stay in a

  23. That way lies madness. Things will become so obfuscated as to potentially lose the fluidity of the D6 system. If you want more crunchy, use the D6 Fantasy book as it is written. And if they want granular advancement, going to levels is NOT the way to get granular. If your players think it is, then they desperately need to play the regular D6 system so they can REALLY see what granular advancement really is.

  33. Is dodge specialization allowed? In a Star Wars D6 game I was in, the GM fairly resonably forbade dodge specialization, with the argument that it would mostly be used to make a character (cheaply) impossible to hit with guns. I think in general, brawl or melee parry of some sort is the proper skill to defend against close combat attacks. In SWD6 dodge specialization isn't given as an example, but don't think it's disallowed, it just is used to defend against ranged attacks, guns/grenades, not unarmed or melee weapon attacks, so balance-wise it might work out diferently depending how your syste

  37. A person could say that this site exists as a way to allow people to see the possibilities of what can be with OpenD6. Yes, it's not the most active. But there IS information on this site that will be helpful for those who might become interested. And some of us do come in here to see if there is ever new developments with the site. I'm happy to provide information or ideas for people if I can. And this way is superior, in my opinion, to anything in social media. It conveys more, and keeps the material easy to find, contrary to social media.

  38. Salut et bienvenu ! Je suis français aussi (mais je continue en anglais). Basically, D6 rpg is Star Wars core system (appeared 1987 ? I played first time in '88...), but like GURPS, it became more "generic and universal" with "D6 system" rules. Now it's a totally free system under OGL names OpenD6 since april 2009. You can find all books you need for most game settings there : https://ogc.rpglibrary.org/index.php?title=OpenD6 If you're looking for a simple D6 based system, then i think mini-six is made for you. http://www.antipaladingames.com/p/mini-six.html for orignal version http:

  44. Working on a setting that is like 3 or 4 generations after a collapse of a federated group of planets (20-30) that had different governments and such. Some planets lost civilization others didn't. The can range from space tech to stone age. They may have magic and/or psionics, or have lost the knowledge. I am working on the magic/psionics systems. Then realized I needed to work on char creation. Then realized I need to work on traits(race stuff) and advantages/disadvantages. Sigh, keeps snowballing.

  47. That's a different idea, for sure. You'd obviously need to test it quite a bit. My initial thought would be that it will make things slower. Instead of rolling dice and adding them up, you now have to roll dice, add some, subtract others, adjust some based on the number rolled, add some based on the number rolled. All in all, if you're looking for a way to speed things up, I don't know if this will be it. But CERTAINLY give it a try out, in person, first to see how it actually works.

  48. I stumbled upon Ars Magica's magic system again, the other day and really like how it's been implemented. It's simple, elegant and functional. In Ars Magica, magic has 5 Techniques (verbs) and 10 Forms (nouns). Techniques (originally presented in Latin, but roughly translate to: ) Create (Conjure) Destroy Change (Alter) Divine (Know, Sense, Seek) Control Form (again, presented in Latin, but translate to: ) Earth Air Fire Water Body Mind Magic (Arcane) Animal Plant Illusion (Senses) So in Ars Magica, to cast a spell you take a verb + noun + die roll vs difficulty

  49. After I looked at my Dark Sun converstion, I realized something. AD&D magic for wizards has always focused around schools (conjuration, divination, etc.)what Ars Magica defines as Techniques. And AD&D Clerical Magic is centered around spheres (Animal, Plant, etc.) what Ars Magica calls Forms. If we take a classic AD&D wizard and convert them to d6 he should have all his skill dice in the Techniques (verbs) and none in the Forms (nouns). That doesn't mean that he can't cast spells, he's just focused on the verbs rather than the nouns. In contrast, a classic AD&D cleric h
