Master Kan: Quickly as you can, snatch the pebble from my hand.

[Young Caine tries to do so and fails]

Master Kan: When you can take the pebble from my hand, it will be time for you to leave.

"Remember always that a wise man walks with his head bowed; humble like the dust." -Master Kan to Caine, who has just succeeded in snatching the pebble from his hand demonstrating that it is time for him to leave the Temple.

Rest well, David.

I have to say its very sad about all the stuff that is coming up about his personal life.

I think they should just investigate his death and leave his person life stuff private.

Hard to leave alot of it private when the oddest stuff seems to have a role in the death...

Well its really not our business how he died anyhow. They could have just said he died and the family wants to keep it a private matter.

If there is an investigation for a capitol crime, and a forensic investigation then it becomes a matter of public record. Its the ole' have your cake and eat it too debate.

If you are a celebrity and live that life, then you must accept when you do something stupid it will be a much larger deal than if an ordinary person did it.

Something stupid includes hang yourself via your genitals.

I recall a segment on "The Man Show" where Adam and Jimmy offered a "Single Guy cleanup service"

The service is a crew that comes in and cleans up your apartment after you're dead but before your parents arrive. They showed scenes of cleaning up a typical guys messy (and porn-filled) apartment. The picture of the girl in the bikini is replaced by a portrait of mom. So, the parents arrive and think that the guy has been living a clean life.

Could have used something like that here, methinks.

The problem is that while I am all for free speech, I think that the media reports way too much.

Not to mention, I dont think pictures of how he died should be spread around nor do I think police reports should end up on The Smoking Gun.

I dont care if you are a celebrity or not, you still deserve some privacy.

While I concur, it is not that simple. The problem comes down to public information, and what is defined as such. Major crimes and investigations are required, at least in this country, to be publicly divulged at the earliest convenience. Hence the problem with things like police reports.

As much as I think it sucks, it is the reality of high lifestyle. If you want to make alot of money for a joke career, then expect some drawbacks. More over, if you want to avoid said drawbacks don't do some of the basic pitfalls such as:

1) Beat your girlfriend/wife

2) Knock up someone else

3) Get arrested

4) Do drugs in public

5) Get in fights in public

6) Hang yourself to get yourself off

Basic stuff :)

Then how come you dont have these drawbacks in your life? I kid :D

How many times was I, by default, in the news over the last 12 months? My industry, profession, particular speciality, and firm were directly attacked repeatedly and it led me to defend myself to clients on many occasions. The reality is that I had nothing to do with anything in the wider reaches of the economy, but the entire industry was attacked viciously. Kinda similar, a reach, but kinda :)

That's the problem, with money/power/benefits/etc comes more attention positive and negative.

Hmm, I wasnt aware of that. What kind of things did you have to say to defend yourself?

Well, when the crap hit the fan in the financial markets, people didn't understand who the "bad guys" were. They thought I might have been one of the guys writing swaps and pushing toxic paper, so you had to explain what was going on a million times.

A LOT of people were really in the belief that we were conspiring to steal (ala: Madoff).

Was a tough time, I didn't lose a client or even really get close, but it did cause alot of headache.

Ok, I understand but a couple questions:

What are swaps and what is toxic paper?

Basically they're assets that have completely lost their value. (Toxic assets... toxic paper is just the paperwork representing those toxic assets.)

Think: DnD 4.0 comes out and all of the sudden DnD 3.5 book prices plummet in value. The old DnD books become "toxic assets" and there are folks who try to hide the fact that they are devalued with toxic paper.

I hope that's close. I'm not in the finance industry, just a layman, but that's how I understand it.

Well, you explained it very well and it answered my questions.

Thank You

Although I agree with your example using gaming material like D&D.

Personally I think when 4e came out it made the over saturated spat book ridden 3e look like it was made of pure gold! :D
