  1. @threshold - Awesome idea! (Puntastic too!) I'd be all for that, especially if we break it up. How long are you picturing each entry because maybe if we broke it up into a three-parter that spotlighted two villains? Let me know your thoughts... We could also include comments, if the villains occupy the same world we could learn what they all think of each other? Just an idea off the top of my head. Feel free to email me please! brettski@wickednorthgames.com
  2. @marsuniversity Thank you! We'd love to have you on board. As of now there is no theme planned for Issue 7 - it's an open issue so we're up for anything! Please shoot me an email with your ideas, and let's go from there... As for a deadline, we've got time as I'm planning on either a late June or early July release depending on everyone's schedules. email: brettski@wickednorthgames.com
  3. If you have any ideas for contributions that you would like to submit, please either post here or drop me an email! brettski@wickednorthgames.com Being that Westward is finally wrapped up, we'll be able to focus on pumping out new issues at a much quicker rate than last year. Thank you everyone for your patience!
  4. @MysticMoon - Thank you!! How does three weeks sound? That would work great, and most of my time over these next two weeks will be spent shipping out printed copies of Westward to our Kickstarter backers once we receive them in-house. Please feel free to email me with any further ideas or questions: brettski@wickednorthgames.com
  5. D6 Magazine - Issue Number 6 Needs your love! I'm hoping to release this issue the end of next month - I've got a few more contributors lined up, but if you would like to contribute anything please let me know. The theme for this issue is now open to anything no matter what the genre. Thank you! - Brett
  6. Almost ready everyone! I'm waiting on some last minute art - I've contracted a new artist and her technical work is fantastic... Khairul has handed in his illustrations and I'm going over its physical design layout today! Let me know if you have any questions...
  7. Hi everyone! I got his final version in yesterday! Illustrated by Drew Moss. Here's a link to his Deviant Art site: http://drewerd.deviantart.com/ Enjoy! Link to Cover Art: http://cinema6games.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/D6coveredit.jpg
  8. Looking forward to it too! Thanks for the updates guys... I'm flexible this month as I'll be leaving for GenCon in two weeks, so a bulk of my writing efforts are going towards Westward and GenCon prep. I've contracted Drew Moss to illustrate the cover of Issue #5 of D6 Magazine. If you guys need any work done, he's really talented and a great artist. He's also in a bit of a pinch right now. Here's his Portfolio on Deviant: http://drewerd.deviantart.com/ If you check out the horror issue last year, he illustrated the Vampires (cover for the article plus the Vamps) in that issue. I've asked him to draw a Star Wars episode IV (A New Hope ; ) ) style poster for the Issue #5 cover just incredibly deranged in the style of OpenD6! With that in mind - a quick question? Do we have a Character Sheet designed specifically for OpenD6? I would love to include one in this issue.
  9. Thanks for the questions @cpaludan! Funny you should mention, last week I posted on my Google page about redoing Azamar in Full Color. While we have no immediate plans, an updated version of Azamar's PDF/electronic copies are on the burner at least. After Westward is complete, we'll be turning our attention to giving the Cinema6 RPG Framework a facelift then we'll revisit Azamar. My best guess is late 2012/early 2013... Any further questions, feel free to drop me an email: brettski@wickednorthgames.com
  10. Just checking in and seeing where everyone is at for content... I'll be working on a current state of d6 Gaming article, and a mini-adventure. So far I've received content from Cheshire, Raymond Terry, Peter Schweighofer and Hisham and I are wrapping up an interview with illustrator Mike Vilardi. Once again, the theme for the issue is Science Fiction and Space Opera. Thank you everyone! Feel free to email me with any questions: brettski@wickednorthgames.com
  11. Annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnndddd........Concluded!! : ) A huge thank you goes out to everyone who's helped spread the word that d6 gaming is still going strong! Release date for Westward: October of 2012... I'll be posting Chapter Layout proposals and additional information on where we are currently at later this afternoon. Any questions? Please let us know!
  12. Thanks for the clarification on the OGL Grimace! : ) I typed that way too fast and didn't catch the error on my half. I just wanted to make sure there weren't any other newer versions of the OGL floating around out there I wasn't aware of. I've also been approached by a few game developers who have had questions about OpenD6, is there a main site I should point them in the direction of that contains the OpenD6 logo and the most up-to-date version of the OGL?
  13. Greetings everyone! Long time lurker and I don't post here too often so I do apologize for that! I've got a few questions regarding the current state of Game Mechanics for OpenD6 as I design Gamemaster Characters, locations and equipment for the next issue. ...Regarding the upcoming issue #5 of D6 Magazine, I am planning on writing and contributing an article that covers the current state of OpenD6. I wanted to see if people are still using the standard WEG rules or if there's another variation out there? The OGL is (as far as I'm aware...) is still in 2.0 and with the topic of Attribute stats and guidelines in how to run your campaigns, what's your advice? I know that we do things a bit differently with the Cinema6 Framework, but for OpenD6 purposes is everyone still using the same DRs as West End Games? Very Easy: 01-05 Easy: 06-10 Moderate: 11-15 Difficult: 16-20 Very Difficult: 21-30 Heroic: 31+ Or are there other variations floating around? My gaming group and I have played a few sessions of D6 Space and D6 Fantasy a few years ago, and there were some minor differences. In regards to designing Gamemaster Characters for the Magazine, I'm planning on using the standard 5: Dexterity, Knowledge, Mechanical, Perception, Strength and Technical attributes. Thank you everyone as I attempt to strive for consistency here!
  14. We have an impressive amount of content lined up for Issue no. 5! If you've been thinking about contributing, please feel free to get in touch with Arcgaden or myself. Expect awesomeness.
  15. Thanks!! I appreciate your contributions since the first issue and the concept of an organization works perfect! I'll be whipping up some planets, adventure ideas (throughout the issue) and random bits of technology myself. I'm planning on having stat options for both OpenD6 and Cinema6, for those inclined.
  16. Hello everyone. With Issue #4 out now - I'm turning my attention to Issue #5 of D6 Magazine. Jeremy and myself discussed content and strategies for this next issue and I'm looking to really push the boundaries of our skills and abilities... the theme of Issue #5 is: Sci-Fi & Space Opera. If you have any ideas or would like to contribute, I gladly welcome your input. brettski@wickednorthgames.com So far, here is what I have lined up: • An interview (and artwork) featuring Michael Vilardi • Original content from Peter Schweighofer which will also feature the illustration talent of Michael Vilardi (both of WEG fame...) • A preview of Westward • ... and More! Right now I'm getting things lined up, and I'll be looking for critiques too of its layout and design. Please let me know your thoughts, and thank you for all of the help and support!
  17. Thanks guys for all of your support while Jere is serving time with the Air Force... We're hard at work on Westward, we've got an initial rough draft down and ready for editing and hopefully within a couple of months I'll be running a few Playtests via G+ Hangouts! 18. Hey everybody! I hope that everyone is doing well this busy, yet productive Holiday season... I'm in the middle of drafting a Wicked North Games update for the blog, but I wanted to ask everyone's opinion as to what they'd like to to hear from us? Jeremy has done a great job summarizing our current projects. This is what I've recently posted to Wicked North's Google+ page: "Updating the Blog! #OpenD6 I'm drafting a blog post that features a sneak-peak at some of +Tyler Walpole's concept art for our cover of Westward. We've been busy - the latest issue of D6 Magazine has been published by the community and is now ready to be downloaded and we have a couple supplements for Azamar in the works. What would you like to hear about? Let us know! And thank you so much for your patience with us this busy, Holiday season. We wish you and your families safe travels and Happy Holidays!" If you're on G+, feel free to add us! http://bit.ly/uWbK1X - Brett
  19. Thanks @sycarion! Here's the link to Brain's review at Game Knight Reviews: http://www.gameknightreviews.com/2011/07/book-review-azamar-by-brett-m-pisinksi-j-elliot-streeter-from-wicked-north-games/ I appreciate everyone's honesty and integrity. The critique's help us grow as designers, and a company. In other news: I have a meeting with our Printer tomorrow morning and I'll be examining the physical proofs. After we send them out to our Kickstarter backers, those copies will be for sale on our site as well!
  20. Greetings Adventurers! While most of this is a repost from our Kickstarter blog, I thought I'd take a moment to update the forum to where we are at currently... Today, we are happy to announce that we are meeting with our publisher and will be going over the details! We are in the process of proofing the final draft as we close in on our deadline, we are waiting for a few more pieces of artwork and are very optimistic as we forecast a completion date set early to mid April. We are reviewing this current proof under a heavy scrutiny as we want it to be in tip-top shape for you guys, we'll update again as more news develops regarding the current state of AZAMAR the Player's Guide... until then, stay tuned. As always, our blog on the Cinema6 site is periodically updated as news breaks and I'll post again once we get all of our artwork in and our release date is set in stone. http://blog.cinema6games.com/ Exciting times, are these... </Yoda>
  21. Wicked North Games is on Facebook! And as the subject suggests, feel free to "Like" us anytime! http://www.facebook.com/home.php#!/pages/Wicked-North-Games/101830683210801 I hope everyone has a safe and Happy New Years!
  22. @Prime Evil It will! Currently, we are planning on having our logos - OpenD6, Wicked North and the Cinema6, etc on the back cover so they will not interrupt the flow/immersion of the cover art.
  23. My interview with Tyler Walpole is officially up!! Check it out: http://blog.cinema6games.com
  24. Greetings everyone! Both J.Elliot and myself are ecstatic to finally be able to share the Cover Art that is Azamar in our latest blog post. We have also included the final Cover Composition, directed by Graphic Designer, Jordan Makow. http://cinema6games.com/blog/ We are both floored by Tyler's illustration... I'm still waiting to hear back from Tyler regarding the answers to my interview questions, and upon receiving them I will draft another blog post. I hope everyone had a safe and happy holiday!
  25. Villains!!! Do I select the fun Dr. Evil type villain who gives his schemes away to the players just as he’s about to capture them, or the small, quiet , unassuming type who ends up becoming the unexpected Combat-Monster? So many varieties of Antagonists to choose from in the Star Wars universe I love it. Let’s face it, every campaign needs that “Final Boss” archetype, it’s just a matter of what suits the theme or feel of your campaign. One of the standard jokes from my players (and it still happens to this day!) is that when the villains I run are revealed, the music often “changes” much like it did when you went up against the final stage bosses in the old school, classic 8-bit Nintendo games. My favorite Darksider/Force-User: Zallard the III – a Dark Jedi clone, lost and forgotten from the Clone Wars. He was entombed in Carbonite when my players stumbled across him when their Freighter unexpectedly had their Hyperdrive malfunction. His Carbonite-slab was found among the wreckage of an old Republic-era cruiser and once they “thawed” him out, he agreed to help tutor one of my players who was playing a Young Jedi. After some hiccups in her training, and once Zallard’s sinister nature was reveled, he attacked the players and fled only to become a reoccurring villain who aided a local Pirate Lord (A Chiss - same species as Grand Admiral Thrawn) who my Smuggler was in debt to. The Pirate Lord also had a Mandalorian Warrior/Mercenary at his disposal and together, those three villains made my Player’s lives a living hell. Zallard never, ever used a Lightsaber and favored Force Lightning. My favorite Con-Artist: Kay’all Navric (Coreillian) (or just Ka’y) an Older Brother to one of my oldest, longest running players – Ray played a former guild hunter, House Tresario turned independent Bounty Hunter because he was tired of sharing the cuts from his Bounties with his House. Ka’y would always show up during the most inappropriate of times, typically blowing a scheme they were planning or to trade information, which wasn’t always accurate if his prices weren’t met. They developed a history of constantly trying to out-do one another until Mithius (Ray’s character) blew up a Star Destroyer that contained an Imperial Admiral who was their father. Afterwards Ka’y formed a team of Bounty Hunters and went after Mithius because it was now personal. My favorite Aliens: Kidjac the Hutt vs. Liyzzara Coft: Post-Return of the Jedi era Tatooine in my Universe saw much hardship due to these two Criminal empires warring against one another. These two HATED one another with a passion and my characters would often wind up caught in the middle. That is until they started becoming powerful enough to openly challenge the two established bosses and started their own, creative bid for power. Kidjac loved his wealth to the point where he felt the need to build a Skyhook in the middle of Mos Eisley just to “show off.” Liyzzara was a Faleen who desired to kill Kidjac herself over a personal humiliation which she received from my players who manipulated the blame over to Kidjac’s camp. Much fun was had with this setup! Those are some of the few… over the years we had many, many more minor villains, minibosses and main villains who all had their plans thwarted one way or another. Some went as planned, most did not and I hear you on the bad die rolling!! Some of my most epic encounters were results of bad die rolling, typically as the result of my dice misbehaving. This is where we’d all have that laugh most gaming groups are familiar with, then I’d quickly say to my players, “no, no, no – this isn’t about me trying to kill you! This is about all of us telling a good story...”
