  1. Rats, I'm too late! I would have loved Wing Commander, but looking forward to either.
  2. Lee, I promised you a character and should get to him this Wednesday.
  3. Works for me (sorry, been out of it for a few days, but I'm back in the saddle)
  4. I think something along the lines of the old Star Wars Adventure Journal. Certainly some crunchy bits, but likewise some different interpretations on the game would be great. Another fan magazine that might be of help would be http://www.fudgefactor.org/. And I still kinda like Pips.
  5. Gaming Cubed (as in the d6 being a cube) Pips Just a couple off the top of my head.
  6. Jez Furlong-Pilot/Repair Guy. Brief Background - His parents were smugglers/pirates/spacers. He hates being planetside and finds his home in space. He grew up around spacers and has become a decent pilot and repair guy. He was out on a pick-up run when his parents were arrested when the home base was raided. Deciding that he didn't want to join them, he decided to regroup and make enough credits to bust them out later. He is brash and mouthy and doesn't deal well with authority, but is loyal to the core and will fight for his friends. He is close friends with Taldec the Wookie, both of whom's parents were good friends out on the fringe. 7. I like that a lot. If it's okay with Mr. GM, we're good to go!
  8. fjw - should Taldec be friends with Jez's parents and they were both out when his parents were arrested?

  10. It was already done. Maybe they were trying to milk the system, but they sure tried. And ever hear of teaching old dogs, new tricks? Yeah, that describes my old group. Still, math aside, I rather liked the game that only had skills. Honestly, it worked well.
  11. Let me throw my hat in the ring for an skill only game. Back in my old Star Wars game I played with some seriously math challenged players so rolling 6 or 7 d6 slowed down game play significantly. So I decided to revamp everything to skills only and gave everyone 3 points per die plus the pips (i.e. 6D+2 = 20) and used a single d10 as a randomizer. What I liked was it really cleaned up the game play. Again, my players kept trying to add everything together (I have 2D in Agility and 5D+2 in Blaster, so I roll 7D right?) so it sped up game play quite a bit. If I had it to do over again, I'd keep a tighter reign on the skill list, but it really worked well.
  12. Hey all! My name is Thomas (aka JediGamer) and I've gamed for about 25 years or so. I started gaming back in the early 80's with the old Marvel Super Heroes game from TSR. Had a blast with my friends recreating classic comic battles. I first discovered the d6 system with the old Ghostbusters RPG. Never actually ran a session of that, but had fun reading the source materials and wishing to run. I picked up the original Star Wars game after I won $25 on a radio contest (no joke!) After I cashed the check, I went to a FLGS called The Game Shop and picked up the original hard back and a pack of dice. Again, I didn't play it much at the time as I really didn't have a group, but I read that book over and over again. Fast forward a few years - my girlfriend and I both read comic books and I had the itch to game so I pitched the idea to her and a couple of buddies. Going back to the old Marvel System, we had a blast. Then I read Timothy Zahn's "Heir to the Empire". I fell in love with Star Wars again and went back and dusted off the old book. I suggested to the group that we give a one shot at this game and they hesitantly agreed. We never went back to supers! We ran the Star Wars game for about three or four years until the group blew up when the girlfriend (now wife) and I split. I didn't game for quite awhile after that and in fact gave away my gaming stuff. Fast Forward a few years - got married to a wonderful (but non rpg'ing) wife. We love board games and play a ton of those. Our nephew came to live with us when he was 5 and we started playing HeroScape (I know there's another Scaper on this board!) and I started interjecting story into the game. This led to us playing d20 Star Wars (which I had ran for several years as well, but never liked as much as d6!) Anyway, recently I was listening to the Meanwhile ... supers gaming podcast and they had the author of d6 Supers on. I got to thinking how much fun d6 was and here I am! Super excited at the concept of an OGL d6. And can't wait to hash out some ideas with all of you!
  13. I agree that a simple rules set to play mini's battles would be fantastic. Looks like someone already snapped up the $1.99 copy, though. \sw\
  14. I can certainly create that quirky pilot/mechanic/gunner type. Actually, one of my favorite types to play. And I will formally introduce myself shortly. Thanks for the warm welcome!
  15. Is there room in the game for one more? New to the boards (but a d6 player from waaaaaaaay back - I had the old Ghostbusters game back in the day). I can pull together a character tonight if there is room. Thomas
