I'll start it with my classic starter.

"When your favorite film or novel gets a Darkness Device"
================================================== ======

In swarms they came.
Flying through space past Mars heading towards Earth.
Their tiny craft flying in an out of a colossal artificial moon.
In a throne room within that moon a robed figure was gazing upon a hologram of his most valued servant who was updating him as to their progress.
"The stelae are in place my master," his deep voice intoned.
"Very good, my servant," the robed figure murmured. "Return to take your place at my side," the robed figure declared.
"It is time to teach this world Earth the power of the Empire."
The Emperor cackled as legions of Stormtroopers prepared to take up their positions on the surface.
The Empire had come and Earth would soon be part of it.
But first, a lesson.
"You may fire when ready," he commanded.
An azure beam reached out to destroy the tiny pitiful moon in orbit so that the Death Star might take its place.
Oh, yes.
This world will tremble at the might of the Empire.
The emperor threw back his head and cackled in maniacal glee, while the strange ebony lightsaber by his side sang its approval.
--

Two thug were running along an alley fleeing arrest.
The officer seemed nowhere in sight, so they slowed down.
At just about that moment a wry voice proclaimed, "well that was fun, can I take you into custody now?"
Somehow the officer had gotten ahead of them and seemed not to be winded at all.
Just then, the moon which had been hanging low in the sky so early in the afternoon exploded.
The officer looked up.
"Its going to be a very bad day," John McClane complained.
The two thugs could only mutely agree while they attempted to regain their breath.
--

Meanwhile, Tokyo was having its own sudden panic as every cell phone began ringing throughout the city and all radio and TV signals suddenly ceased momentarily.
Then, on every answered cell phone and from every radio and TV speaker came a horrific droning monologue:
"Strength is irrelevant. Resistance is futile. We wish to improve ourselves. We will add your biological and technological distinctiveness to our own. Your culture will adapt to service ours."

The Borg had arrived in Japan.
--

The English countryside had been plagued with talk of a strange looking, sword wielding group attacking remote farms and killing and eating livestock and the occasional unfortunate farmer who sought to protect his property.
They at last had finished their preparations.
A rider in black robes on a black charger rode up and they uttered gutturals that would have hurt the ears of any near enough had any been there.
In return, the rider keened out some horrible shriek that sounded as if it crossed the gulf from death to life.
Then the Black Rider reached out to its master to inform that the way was made ready.
Thus did the tower of Barad Dur rise up from the remote English Countryside as the Nazgul keened out their welcome to their dread lord Sauron.
Sauron had still not found HIS ring which was most precious to him, but the strange ring of deepest darkness keened out its own song of power that adequately replaced the power of the One Ring.
Mordor had been reborn upon this world of Earth and his orcish hordes were ready to cover the new realm.
Eventually, perhaps, he would turn his gaze back towards the Shire and seek once again HIS Ring.
But there would be time for that after this strange new land of Earth was so must dust.

Something like this should be part of a new ad campaign for Torg 2.0 ;)

I am surprised that this thread sunk down and more people didn't jump in and add their 2 cents.

I am surprised that this thread sunk down and more people didn't jump in and add their 2 cents.
I offered about a dozen threads and none of them took on any life.
I do seem to have a talent for non-starting threads here so far.
Quite a change from my threads over at Shadownessence.com (http://www.shadownessence.com/forum/index.php?)

Still, with minimal activity in the TORG area, it isn't like the threads will disappear any time soon.

I have so far:
3 invaders.
1 protagonist.

But we NEED other genres beyond the two Sci-Fi and the one Fantasy as well as "Core Earth" as represented by the Die Hard series.

Looks to me like a more WOD based forum. The color scheme is kind of hard on the eyes there too. Too dark

Pegged it twice.
I am used to the dark scheme and have 5000 posts and still going strong.
But more importantly -- only one or two out a hundred threads fail to get at least a page worth of responses.
Far cry from here.

Stories/films I am thinking of adding to the story:
Dark City (especially with the Strangers)
Narnia (especially during the first or second book)
Oz (Nome King has a magic belt! Suitable for making a D.D. version. Plus a cool weakness -- Chicken Eggs!)
The stories/films of Alfred Hitchcock (But worry about what aspect to accentuate)
Wild Cards (not your everyday superheroes!)

the only problems is threefold:
TIME
ENERGY
INTEREST

Yep. I hope if we can get this site to grow perhaps more TORG fans will find us and there will be more interest.

It's a slow process but we are growing.

Just a general bump here...
Because I think this could get more mileage out of the larger crowd in the TORG area these days.

Well I am hoping as this site continues to grow that we will get more posts and the site will be more active.

As new WEG products are released, that will help as well

Unfortunately, I do seem to be the one person in these forums with the most threads -- and I tend to be the one person who can be guaranteed to answer someone else's thread start.
I wish it weren't up to me to carry the entire TORG forums on my back, but it seems the task is mine.
If I weren't such an emotionally unbalanced person, I'd think me a shoe-in for being a TORG Area Moderator.

This may sound kinda whacky. But what if Skynet somehow got ahold of some kind of darkness device or somehow became one itself.
Then it could launch armies of terminator robots and other such death machines through various cosms and realms to wipe out the living.
As i read it it seems far fetched but then again my friends always accused me of being to imaginative.
I have noticed that you do post more then any one else i see on here Skeloric.
I will try ot do my part so not all the weight is on your back.

Oh I agree, Skynet and the Terminators would be great.
Skynet probably would have a special computer card installed in its system that was black card with black 'silver' highlights traced across it.
What to call it though.
As it is, the DD for Skynet would operate like a computer upgrade.
So it wasn't actually time traveling in the films, instead it was invading a near neighbor under the delusion that it was time traveling.
Early "flaws" such as having to show up naked and such were just misunderstandings as the Skynet tried to integrate the DD into its system.

A shame my little story went no further...
