I'll start it with my classic starter.
"When your favorite film or novel gets a Darkness Device"
================================================== ======
In swarms they came.
Flying through space past Mars heading towards Earth.
Their tiny craft flying in an out of a colossal artificial moon.
In a throne room within that moon a robed figure was gazing upon a hologram of his most valued servant who was updating him as to their progress.
"The stelae are in place my master," his deep voice intoned.
"Very good, my servant," the robed figure murmured. "Return to take your place at my side," the robed figure declared.
"It is time to teach this world Earth the power of the Empire."
The Emperor cackled as legions of Stormtroopers prepared to take up their positions on the surface.
The Empire had come and Earth would soon be part of it.
But first, a lesson.
"You may fire when ready," he commanded.
An azure beam reached out to destroy the tiny pitiful moon in orbit so that the Death Star might take its place.
Oh, yes.
This world will tremble at the might of the Empire.
The emperor threw back his head and cackled in maniacal glee, while the strange ebony lightsaber by his side sang its approval.
--
Two thug were running along an alley fleeing arrest.
The officer seemed nowhere in sight, so they slowed down.
At just about that moment a wry voice proclaimed, "well that was fun, can I take you into custody now?"
Somehow the officer had gotten ahead of them and seemed not to be winded at all.
Just then, the moon which had been hanging low in the sky so early in the afternoon exploded.
The officer looked up.
"Its going to be a very bad day," John McClane complained.
The two thugs could only mutely agree while they attempted to regain their breath.
--
Meanwhile, Tokyo was having its own sudden panic as every cell phone began ringing throughout the city and all radio and TV signals suddenly ceased momentarily.
Then, on every answered cell phone and from every radio and TV speaker came a horrific droning monologue:
"Strength is irrelevant. Resistance is futile. We wish to improve ourselves. We will add your biological and technological distinctiveness to our own. Your culture will adapt to service ours."
The Borg had arrived in Japan.
--
The English countryside had been plagued with talk of a strange looking, sword wielding group attacking remote farms and killing and eating livestock and the occasional unfortunate farmer who sought to protect his property.
They at last had finished their preparations.
A rider in black robes on a black charger rode up and they uttered gutturals that would have hurt the ears of any near enough had any been there.
In return, the rider keened out some horrible shriek that sounded as if it crossed the gulf from death to life.
Then the Black Rider reached out to its master to inform that the way was made ready.
Thus did the tower of Barad Dur rise up from the remote English Countryside as the Nazgul keened out their welcome to their dread lord Sauron.
Sauron had still not found HIS ring which was most precious to him, but the strange ring of deepest darkness keened out its own song of power that adequately replaced the power of the One Ring.
Mordor had been reborn upon this world of Earth and his orcish hordes were ready to cover the new realm.
Eventually, perhaps, he would turn his gaze back towards the Shire and seek once again HIS Ring.
But there would be time for that after this strange new land of Earth was so must dust.
