I know with the whole WEG sale up in the air it's hard to do anything using the D6 system. But I am curious what projects people are working on/want to do using the D6 system?
I am going to start off- I am working on creating a WWI fighter game concentrating on the air combat aspect of WWI.
What are you working on?

Whoa
Let me know how it turned out
I in the long ago haze of my late middle school early high school years tried to create such, uncreatively titled Knights of the Sky RPG (after the PC game of the same name)

huh...what am I working on. Let me see...
D6 Wing Commander: The Wing Commander universe, flying fighters against the Kilrathi!
D6 World War 2: Currently I'm only on the ground aspect of the war. Whether you're an infantryman or a tanker, this will cover it. I'm also slowly working on the naval aspect of it, but it's slow going.
D6 Pirates: The age of swashbuckling and the dreaded jolly roger! You're a pirate simply trying to make your fortune while the great powers of the sea hunt for you!
D6 Modern Warfare: What happened...the world fell into war again, but this time its with modern weapons...tanks, missiles, top of the line assault weapons. Eventual plans to also incorporate helicopters and other aircraft.
Universal D6: This is my attempt to come up with a set for the D6 system that will allow characters to be created and used for any genre. Attributes the cover any genre, skills that are dedicated to attributes that won't change. I'm also including increasing levels of complexity, so people can run something really simple using D6 or some more "crunchy" when it comes to character generation. Also includes an expanded scale system that allows a person to be able to use any type of scaling system they want (die caps, added dice, dice modifiers).
D6 Weapons: Any weapon, any age, all appropriately scaled so that the stats will be the same no matter what age you use it in. No "X weapon does 5D damage in this age and 3D damage in this other age". Will cover everything from ancient weapons to modern weapons to future weapons.
D6 Stargate: Patterned mainly off of Stargate SG-1 but also borrowing heavily from the Stargate movie with Kurt Russell.
D6 Starship Troopers: BUGS!! BUGS!!!!
D6 Babylon Five: What will you be? Human? Narn? Centauri? Minbari? Whatever the choice, you'll have your share of problems to deal with.
World of Namarra: A fantasy world, with various lands filled with fantastical places and beasts. This will include different lands and people and races. Different character types. Expanded armor and equipment lists, as well as various magics to use and a plethora of spells to choose from.
I've also got small things here and there, including D6 G.I. Joe, D6 Flash Gordon, D6 Western and a D6 Rifts. None of these are very expanded though.
Is that enough?
Sometimes I wish I had less so I could get some done quicker.

Cool, "The Show." I like that History channel show about Dogfights. And maybe you should get with Grimace because he's working on the ground and naval sides of the war...
D6 World War 2: Currently I'm only on the ground aspect of the war. Whether you're an infantryman or a tanker, this will cover it. I'm also slowly working on the naval aspect of it, but it's slow going.
D6 Wing Commander: The Wing Commander universe, flying fighters against the Kilrathi!
Space combat, even cooler.
D6 Pirates: The age of swashbuckling and the dreaded jolly roger! You're a pirate simply trying to make your fortune while the great powers of the sea hunt for you!
I liked the Pirates of the Carribean movies too, and they are one of many influences on my heavily-cinematic (and swashbuckling) Star Wars campaigns. Aaargh!
D6 Modern Warfare: What happened...the world fell into war again, but this time its with modern weapons...tanks, missiles, top of the line assault weapons.
So this could also be called "D6 Real World." The modern world is unfortunately very much at war.
I'm very much looking forward to your imput on my Star Wars D6 (3rd Edition). Scaling is one of the things I'm just not sure on.
D6 Weapons: Any weapon, any age, all appropriately scaled so that the stats will be the same no matter what age you use it in. No "X weapon does 5D damage in this age and 3D damage in this other age". Will cover everything from ancient weapons to modern weapons to future weapons.
So your D6 Weapons project is really for the use of the previously mentioned Universal D6.
D6 Stargate: Patterned mainly off of Stargate SG-1 but also borrowing heavily from the Stargate movie with Kurt Russell.
I never saw the TV show but I liked the movie.
D6 Western
I toyed with the idea of making a D6 Western in the early 90's, but it never went anywhere.
Good luck with everything!

I was working on a D6 game that I sent as a proposal to Eric earlier in the year, before his decision to sell WEG, called 'SOTU - Scum of the Universe', but nothing came of it. I've still got pages of notes and almost finished material so I might still do something with it. It was based on the original first edition Star Wars D6 rules. I'll post part of the proposal here to give you an idea of what I had in mind.
********************************
An Overview of my design for the D6 System
As stated earlier, I am very fond of science fiction settings that allow plenty of scope for others to inject their own creativity and designs. I believe this is why the Star Wars franchise worked so well for D6 – an easy, fast and fluid system in a world where the player could create and build their own designs. I am hoping to reflect that sense of freedom in my own game design.
I have recently produced a book called ALL FALL DOWN, in which I wrote a story called ‘I Do Not Remember The Stars Of Old’. It was the story of two people in a galaxy full of aliens that hated the human race. This was because the human race had mental powers, called Willing, in which they could perform telekinesis, empathy and telepathy. Because the other races have no such talent they hate the humans, as they feel they cannot be trusted. The human race, therefore, has been reduced to the lowliest race in the galaxy and is treated as such. The intended name for the game is: SOTU – Scum Of The Universe.
Below is the introduction I am working on for the game. It may explain things a little easier.
---------------------------------
You’re kidding me, right?
You’re honestly telling me you’ve never, in your entire life, been out into the greater galaxy? Where are you from, one of those isolationist colonies? That’s too bad, kid. It must have been quite a shock have your home taken away from you like that. Who moved you on? The Windor? The F’ruk? No matter. They’re all the damn same, as far as I’m concerned.
What do I mean? How to explain. Imagine… imagine the city you came from. Now imagine every single person in that city hating your guts through no fault of your own. You can’t work anywhere, you can’t live anywhere, people shout and scream and spit at you. There are only a few people who tolerate you, some even like you, but you can’t trust them as far as you can spit them. You, and maybe a few others like you, are outcast, despised and hated. Imagine how that must feel, all alone in a city that hates you, where all the opportunities are not for you. Now take that feeling. Multiply it by infinity. The city is the galaxy, and you are the human race. That’s what it’s like out here, kid.
The galaxy hates us. Every other race in existence, even those lower than the lowest, hate us. We travel the cosmos in our own ships, sure, we even get jobs and there are some places, just some, where races allow us to live. But they’ll always hate and distrust us. And you can blame Willing for that.
Are you a Blank? About one in six of us are a Blank. So you know how to Will, yes? Well, that’s why the other races hate us. Because we can Will. Because we can move things with the power of our minds, read and project thoughts and feelings. We’re the only race that can do. No other species can. And that’s why they hate us. Let’s face it, what’s to trust? Would you trust someone who could use their mind to move your possessions, read your mind and take your secrets, your spirit? Of course not. That’s why they hate us. They don’t trust us. They don’t understand our power, what we can do. They think we’re in their heads, taking their minds, poisoning their souls.
The Windor are the worst. Tail-faced bastards. They have more than a thousand star systems in their empire, with twice that number under their ‘protection’. They hate us the most. Arrogant, selfish creatures that think they’ve inherited the right to tell the other races how to live.
The Genoin are the second biggest power, but they’re just as bad as the Windor. The F’ruk stink, the Stubians are all religious and weird, the Skavot are savages and the Juthrians spit. The Ka’Nalt aren’t half bad, but that’s only because their minds are immune to probing and they feel safe from us, but they still keep human slaves and think nothing of it.
Either way, no matter who they are they hate us. If they find us settled anywhere, they move us on, some races exterminate us like vermin. It’s like we’re an infestation, an itch they have to scratch. You’ll be lucky to find more than a few hundred humans in one place at one time.
There are all kinds of aliens. I know of a couple of hundred species alone. All over. There are billions of suns out there, and if just a small percentage have life… I don’t even want to think about it. There are thousands upon of thousands of alien races just waiting to be discovered, or ready to discover the rest of the galaxy. Will they hate us, too? So we traverse this galaxy as the lowest species alive.
Have you had training? Starships, weapons and stuff? That’s good. We should know about these things, especially out here, on our own. We need to teach the next generation what they need to know to survive, make sure they have the skills to exist out here in the deep dark black. I’m glad the elders of your isolationist colony remembered that.
A homeworld? Now I know you’re kidding. The human race doesn’t have a homeworld, kid. We never have. Nothing and nobody knows where we came from as a race. Most believe we were genetically bred for servitude, but that’s just so they can justify keeping our kind as slaves. If we did have a homeworld it’s either long forgotten or long dead.
That doesn’t stop people from searching, though. Have you ever heard of the Long Walkers? The Walkers travel across the galaxy looking for clues about the history of the human race. They’re the most talented of us all; some say they know Will powers beyond what normal humans know. Mind you, as far as I know, they’ve found nothing. But that doesn’t stop them searching.
Oomans? Don’t ever use that word again. It’s the closest an alien tongue has ever got to saying ‘human’ without a translator brooch. It’s derogatory, as far as they’re concerned, and nearly all of us accept it, some even refer to themselves as Ooman without knowing it, it’s all they’ve heard. We are human beings. H-U-M-A-N. Oh, there are plenty of other words for us.
Tell me – have you been called a Sotu, yet? You have? Do you even know what it means? It’s the new name for the human race, kid.
We’re Sotu. S-O-T-U. Scum Of The Universe.

Fantastic setting idea, and beautifully presented - I love it! :D

There is a series books called "Shadow War" (Shadow Moon, Shadow Dawn, Shadow Star), which are sequels to the movie "Willow" written by George Lucas and Chris Clairmont (of X-men fame). Me and a friend of mine had an idea long ago that this setting would be a great basis for a fantasy game. I've been slowing working on giving form to this idea using the D6 system.

Thanks for the ego boost! I came up with the idea when I was writing the official Battlestar Galactica mobile game a couple of years ago - what if it wasn't just one race of beings that wanted the human race dead, but hundreds? And with my love of D6, Star Wars, an old story of mine called 'Geta Huda Sharoon' and science fiction in general, it all went from there.
I'd love to produce the game through Farsight Games but I can't use the D6 system of course. What I can do is clean up my 12 pages of work, scan some of the artwork I did and make it available to everyone for free - the only requirement is the original Star Wars rpg (although the second and revised editions should work) so that you have a frame of reference.
ALL FALL DOWN can be found here - http://www.lulu.com/content/1400297 - and although it never made it to full ISBN available-in-shops-publication I'm still very pleased with the quality. It was all edited, finished and ready to print but I let it go to concentrate on Farsight Games.
Cheers, mate.

For the past decade I've been (very slowly) working on my updated "house" version of Star Wars D6, an ongoing work in progress (and it will probably never end, but there are some major benchmarks in site). I am basically starting with the R&E edition as a jumping point.
I originally wanted to call it "The Star Wars Role-Playing Game, Second Edition, Further Revised and Expanded." Then I felt I had to differentiate it between the d20 game, so I added "D6" in between Star Wars and RPG. Then I thought I would be witty and call it "The Star Wars D6 Role-Playing Game 2.6" (R@E being "2.5").
But now I feel that the system will be updated enough to warrant calling it a full new edition instead, and also for simplicity's sake I am now calling it "The Star Wars D6 Role-Playing Game, Third Edition" and even more simply "Star Wars D6" for short.
In the spirit of this thread and the Serenity project one, I'll post a new thread with a lot of details of my Star Wars edition in the Star Wars forum when I get a chance. I will definitley welcome feedback!

I'm on my wife's computer now, but I'll have to check mine to make sure that's in my favorites (I have massive amounts of Star Wars favorites). I think I saved it for future reference, but at the time I didn't want to download and unzip everything to see what was on there. I know I will eventually.
Any real quick overview you can give me of the material? What do you think about it?

Sounds like a plan. My Spanish is extremely rusty, so hopefully you've got them or can put them into some English. I could probably understand some of it just because it's D6, and a bit more with my sub par Spanish, but I wouldn't likely understand it all if it was all in Spanish.
And yes, Whill, the D6 Weapons could conceivably be incorporated into the D6 Universal, but I wanted it more as a stand alone.

I have decided to put the other game I was working on on hold while I ut together the D6 project I really want to do- Shatterzone 2.0.
Instead of using the masterbook rules I am going to convert it over to the D6 ruleset and clean up alot of things.
I am really taking notes and putting things together. I really dig Shatterzone and I really want to make it as good as can be.
If WEG doesnt get sold and I can come up with something good maybe WEG will publish it.

Don't worry. Stats are easy to read, and I still need to translate detailed text from Jane's (English to Spanish) :D
What I wanted was to base damage in energy/calibre of bullets, and many results will need some fudge factor. I'm still deciding on how to treat bursts in weapon damage.

My rather uncreative solution (stolen actually from D20 Arsenal in part) is player decides how many bullets firing, then makes attack roll
If make attack roll by 5 over opponents defense, and fire at least 3 bullets, +1D damage
10 over and at least 6 bullets, +2d
15 over and at least 9 bullets, +3d
and so on
If make difficulty but not 5 over, just generic damage
Increments in 10 rather than 5 if using a weapon not designed for autofire but can be fired quickly (ie a double action revolver or semiautomatic)

Eric did mention that there were some Shatterzone books done that were duel statted to have the stats for using it with D6. And that is using the D6 classic version which I am not sure how different to the current version of D6 it is.
I am talking about doing an complete redo game, a new version complete with updated information and purely for D6, totally dumping the original system, not just doing duel stat games.

D6 Babylon Five: What will you be? Human? Narn? Centauri? Minbari? Whatever the choice, you'll have your share of problems to deal with.
I thought about working on a D6 conversion of Mongoose's Babylon 5 RPG. Grimace, have you actually started working on this project or are your still in an early planning phase? What do you think would work best for Babylon 5 telepaths? Psionics from d6 Adventure or Metaphysics from d6 Space?

I'm preparing a setting with similar "powers", and using Adventure psionics.
But as there are some things not covered, I allowed for some Special Abilities to have psionic origin (just to save myself the work of re-inventing a few skills).
Still untested, but I'm not entirely convinced about having two sources for one "psionics", as skills usually work diferently from Special Abilities.
Oh, and I added a "technoempathy" skill.

I'm more in the early planning stages. I was actually still mulling the whole telepath aspect over in my mind trying to figure out what I was going to do. I know it needs to be included in the game, even though there's not a huge use of telepaths in the show, but if you're going to have PsiCorp included in the game, you have to have telepathic powers included.
If I had to make a snap decision of which two I'd use, I'd probably go with Psionics from D6 Adventure. I haven't thoroughly gone over those rules, however, so that opinion could change.
Sorry for the delay in answering.

Although I am a big fan of Babylon 5 and other scifi shows, my group is more into fantasy, so I thought about working on a D6 conversion of WotC's Eberron setting. It was designed for D&D 3.5 and I own almost any book released for the setting. I am not decided yet, if I really want to buy the 4th Edition version of the campaign, so I can either run it with 3.5 or use another system altogether. Converting it to D&D 4th Edition all by myself seems a) too hard and b) pointless with a proper 4th Edition book coming out later this year, so perhaps a conversion to D6 Fantasy would make sense. Does anyone know if someone has already worked on something like that?

I'm not totally sure but I think the 4th edition Eberron setting is going to include info on how the new core races fit into Eberron, etc. If you don't feel the need to include, say, dragonborn in your D6 Eberron, then maybe you don't need that. But since you seem like your choice is wait for Eberron 4E or adapt it, that must mean you are playing D&D 4E now. How do you like it?
I despise d20 (from my experience with D&D 3.5 and all the d20 Star Wars books I own), but I actually like the Eberron setting, my favorite world that D&D has ever had. I played in one Eberron campaign that started soon after it came out because that's what my friends wanted to play at the time. The fact that I liked the setting is what kept me playing for as long as I did (about a year maybe?).
I think converting any setting specifically created for d20 would be a massive undertaking, and you're more of a man than I'll ever be if dare to try! I think it would be so complicated to translate all of the feats, classes, levels, dragonmarks and all the other d20 mechanics, so maybe it probably couldn't be an exact translation, but maybe you could get an appealing D6 approximation out of it.
If you did make Eberron D6, that would be a fantasy game I might play (under a good GM). Heck, it would even be cool to just see it. I don't even have the original Eberron setting book anymore, but I remember the basics of the world. If you want someone to bounce stuff off of, I'd be happy to take a look at your work and give you feedback, as a fan of both D6 and the world of Eberron. PM me any time.
Of course, there are others here that might be better suited to help with certain D6 Fantasy mechanics, like magic and miracles (arcane and divine magic, as I think they are called in D&D). Some of the others here have even played D&D before, but I don't know about Eberron.
Make sure you somehow include the warforged, alchemists and dragonmarks in D6!

I have started work on a conversion for D6 using D6 space and I am creating:
Aliens D6
Once it is ready to go I will make it available for people to download and tell me what you think about it.
Yes, the aliens movies have been playing recently and I have really gotten into them

D&D 4th Edition is pretty different from it predecessors. It almost feels like a reboot instead of a new edition. Perhaps you should check out my first look post (http://www.stargazersworld.com/2008/08/07/dd-4th-edition-first-impressions/) I wrote when D&D 4th Edition came out. That pretty much sums it up.
D&D 4th Edition is a pretty cool system, if you like tactical combat and characters that feel almost like fantasy superheroes.
But it's very hard (at least in my opinion) to convert stuff to 4th Edition, so I was looking into a D6 (or Savage Worlds) conversion for Eberron. And my current plan is not to convert every feat etc. but try to run adventures in Eberron with D6 Fantasy rules. So I plan to convert the common tropes like Eberron's races, classes, dragonmarks, some spells etc. to D6 Fantasy. But I will stick to all combat mechanics, skills etc. from D6 Fantasy.
But currently I am still working on some stuff for Dungeonslayers (http://www.dungeonslayers.com)(a free retro-style roleplaying game), so I won't start this project any time soon.

The tactical part is what I didn't like about D&D 3/3.5. For simplicity I played a fighter, but I didn't understand the complex game mechanics enough to do things my character should know to do. "If I only you had moved to that square instead of this square, you could have had an attack of opportunity, but now the enemy has an attack of opportunity on you." So I came across as a brain-damaged idiot who sometimes got lucky and hit something. In effect my character didn't seem anything like the write-up I did. Ugh, d20 is such a headache.
The Stargazerworld link didn't work right with my IE. I got an error message trigger and when I clicked ok it takes me away from page, says cannot display. I could read part of what you wrote but could not scroll down. It's off topic anyway, don't worry about it. And good luck with your basic dungeon crawl game too.
Looks like you're pretty busy, and the Eberron 4E book might come out by the time you could convert it to D6. Bummer. But if you do get to it we'd love to hear about it.

Well, it looks like I'm going to be running a face to face game of my fantasy setting and rules again. So I'll end up working more on my fantasy stuff for a bit. Which should be good in terms of fleshing out some more of the areas and expanding the creatures, magic and various races that can be played. I can also expand my already sizeable equipment list for fantasy. Should be fun!

Someone did an Aliens D6 before, I just can't find the file. It came out about the time that Dan Wyman did Evil Dead D6. If I remember right it had some stuff on Aliens Vs. Predators (the comics).

Grim, I'd love to hear about your own fantasy setting. What is your world like? What races can players play? And will you be playtesting your all-genre version of D6 for this game (attribute/skill organizaion, etc.)?

I'm humoring the idea of trying out the "all genre" version of the skills that I'm working on, but I don't know whether I'll have enough done in converting the stuff I have to get it to work by the time next Monday rolls around. I'll have to see how that goes, along with getting the rest of my stuff rounded up.
As far as what my world is like...it's hard to explain. There's areas where magic is much more prevelent, other areas where magic is present, but hidden, and areas where magic is generally frowned upon. There's lands where the people are very "viking"-ish, lands where there are samurai and ninja, lands populated solely by "monsters", and more "classical" lands where there are humans, elves, dwarves, halflings, gnomes and other classical type races. I have all elven lands, lands styled after the Romans, island nations whose people ply the seas, and "dark" lands where strange, dark and nefarious things go on in. Basically, I've got a wide range so I can plop a group anywhere, or pull a character from anywhere, and have an adventure on the world.
As for races that players can play. There's the usual Human, Elf, Dwarf, Halfling, Gnome. I've also had players play Satyrs and have rules to allow for Centaurs, Hybsils, Giants and even Lizardmen. Essentially, I could work up something pretty quickly to allow for any type of race for a player if they can come up with a reasonable enough reason for that particular race to have a character like the one they are proposing. That's how I ended up with a player running a Satyr. I was also coming up with rules, at one time, for half-breeds of races, so I'll eventually revisit that idea since I'll be running fantasy again.

Your world sounds really cool. And what do you call your "all-genre" version of D6?

As for me ... Remember the computer game Archimedean Dynasty ? I once created a D6 game set in a similar setting.
For those who have little clue about what it is all about, it’s a mission-based submarine-driving deep sea sci-fi setting. Mankind lives in gigantic cities underwater divided into many political power blocs. The game itself was a pure shooter, but I decided to inspire myself to create a world very much identical.
Players were either normal humans, genetically enhanced humans or mutants with strange abilities (mostly water-based). Their goal was to survive in this harsh world in whatever ways they thought possible, as mercenaries, free traders, spies, prostitutes, a lab experiment that went wrong, etc. They could buy a freighter sub and run around the planet, looking for a job or for trouble.
My game (not the computer game) was a mix between Blue Planet and the French rpg Polaris.
It was fun, for a time. I was thinking of putting my setting ideas and rules online, if anyone is interested.
I also considered using D6 to run a somewhat “diesel-punk” pulp game, a cross between Shadowrun and DangerQuest, set in the late thirties.
At the brink of WWII, players may come from many races (mostly fantasy ones, like elves and orks), in a neo-gothic world of magic and mystery. The Shadow and Doc Savage meet Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow. This idea never went very far, as we decided to continue our Star Wars game instead.

There's a really exceptional version done for Fuzion, which wouldn't be terribly difficult to convert - http://www.serenadawn.com/AlienRPG-Contents.htm.
I seem to recall seeing a D6 version too, but not as extensive. Couldn't find it when I looked yesterday, though, so I think it's probably no longer online. I seem to recall that the old Hyperspace Crossroads site had stats for the different Xenomorph stages, as well as a Colonial Marine template and USCM equipment and weapons lists.
Grimace has an adult xenomorph listing (http://dimfuture.net/d6universe/2008/08/16/alien-from-the-alien-movies-excluding-avp/#more-64), as well as one for a Predator (http://dimfuture.net/d6universe/2008/08/16/yautja-predator/#more-63), at his site...
Looking over my personal archive files, this is some of what what was listed at the Hyperspace Crossroads before it vanished...

All your life you've lived for challenge. Always wanted to make your mark, stake your claim in frontier territories. You finally got your chance. The work is hard but rewarding. In another 20-50 years people will flock to the paradise you have helped make. Until then you work. Most colonies are started by groups of individuals who claim an uninhabited planet and develop it for their own use. Life is hard, and it is often years between supply ships for out of the way colonies.
But this is how galactic civilization came about.
Other colonies are formed by corporations in search of a long term, high yield investment. Colonists are supplied by the corporation, and once the colony is fully developed the corporation steps in and takes control. In return the colonists are given some small percentage of the colonies profits, and sometimes careers within the company. This is most frequently done in situations where a planet requires terraforming to make it habitable.
Personality: Colonists are a hardy breed. They are motivated by challenge and commitment. Once they've started something they like to see it through to the bitter end.

"Join the Marines," they said. "See the universe," they said. You joined the service when you were old enough expecting excitement and adventure. All you do is hop from planet to planet without enough time to even enjoy what you do see, stopping minor insurrections and wiping out alien species that get in the way of progress. What a waste.
Colonial Marines are the byproduct of planetary governments needs often overlapping those of major corporations. The Colonial Marines serve the specific function of policing and protecting newly inhabited worlds, where it may not be economical or desirable to send in the Navy. The Colonial Marines are subsidized by several major corporations who use them to best strategic advantage.

The Colonial Marines tossed you out. 'Too unstable' they whined. Who the hell cares anyway? You took to the skies as soon as the bugs came raining down. There's plenty to be done. Bugs are no good. They need killin'. And nobody does that better than you, especially not the damn Colonial Marines! If you can make a profit, all the better. But, alot of these backwater worlds that get infested don't have a hell of a lot to trade. Sometimes it's all you can do to keep your ship runnin' and to replace lost limbs. Those bugs'll pay!

Personality: Mean and nasty, always ready to smash a few bugs.

I really want to make something that is nice and expanded so people can do a lot with it.
Thanks so much
