(round we go and round we go and where we stop, nobody knows!) ;)

Ok, so my local gaming group was tired of doing one-shots and spending the first hour of the game session making new characters. So, I suggested we go with a single system and turn it into a dimension-hopping game where they can play the same character as we go bouncing around realities. (Sort of a cross between Doctor Who and Sliders). The good news is: the group likes the idea, the bad news is: we're using FATE as the game system instead of D6. (Oh well, can't win em all, but at least FATE's a good system.)

But not before I reviewed MiniSix and made a few scribbles. Suggested (Required?) specializations are in parentheses and are NOT a comprehensive list, flavor to taste...

Brains
Craft (Armorsmithing, Blacksmithing, Gunsmithing)
Know-how (Computer Use, First Aid, Navigation, Streetwise, Survival)
Notice (Conceal, Investigate, Search, Track)
Magic (Air, Earth, Fire, Water)
Psi (ESP, Healing, Telekinesis, Telepathy)
Repair (Aircraft, Automobile, Firearm, Starship)
Scholar (Computer Programming, Geology, Mathematics, Medicine, Physics)

Brawn
Endurance (Climb, Stamina, Swim)
Fight (Axe, Knife, Laser Sword, Mace, Shield, Sword, Unarmed)

Agility
Drive/Pilot (Aircraft, Automobile, Chariot, Motorcycle)
Larceny (Pick Lock, Pick Pocket, Sneak)
Ride (Camel, Elephant, Horse)
Shoot (Blaster, Bows, Firearms, Sling)
Throw (Axe, Grenade, Knife, Rock, Shuriken)

Presence
Beast-friend (Handle Beast, Husbandry, Train Beast)
Courage (alternate name: Guts or Willpower)
Faith (by religion or divine power)
Gamble (Poker, Sabacc)
Persuade (Bargain, Command, Deceit, Intimidate, Seduce)

Perks/Flaws (as per the standard MiniSix rules)

Derived Attributes:
Contacts = # of D in Presence
Languages = # of D in Brains
Leap: Brawn D in meters
Lift: Brawn D x 50kg
Move: default is 10m

Defenses
Block: Fight D x3
Dodge: Agility D x3
Parry: Fight D x3
Toughness: Brawn D x3

I really tried to genericize it to allow the PCs to come from VERY different backgrounds and potentially be in a high-tech world one week and then a low-tech one the next.

It looks like you are using Persuade similar to the way it is used in SWSE, a one-shot for all charisma-based influence rolls.

Actually, I borrowed a few ideas from Savage Worlds and not Star Wars: Saga Edition.

I made Persuade the default influencing skill and each "subtype" a specialized kind of influence. (via force of presence, via sex appeal, via lying, via haggling with money, etc.) Savage Worlds uses Taunt and Intimidate, but I got rid of those and kinda rolled em all into one.

You could certainly use the name "Influence" as an alternative to "Persuade."

There's a definite kinship between D6 and Savage Worlds... both are "Fast! Furious! Fun!" even if only one system can have that tagline. ;)

I like that. I use Contacts = Charisma Mod in my d20 games.

I really like this. It is certainly more organized than what I came up with and a good adaptation of the Savage Worlds lineup. I think the attributes and skills for Savage Worlds were done well and one of the reasons I seriously considered it as my go-to game. I couldn't stand the combat system, though. (Plus, where's the fun in only rolling a single die all the time? I need to hear that clacking of multiple dice to feel like I'm actually having fun :p )

I love that about D6, in general. I once had a fledgling Jedi, captured by the Empire, burn all his Force Points to 'give the Emperor a wedgie'. Not probably going to work via the rules, but I allowed it. In reply, I grabbed up the double-handful of dice required to roll the Emperor's reply, by way of lightning bolts, and shook them ominously...

Wouldn't have been nearly as fun with just one dice.

As to the thread, the stats and skills look pretty good, but I wasn't ever that comfortable with physical attributes getting split more than the mental/personality ones get. I understand the meta-game reasons for doing it, I just never cared for it.
