Fan created .pdf's

This was talked about in another thread but I thought it deserved it's own.

The idea has been floated about pulling all of the good fan content off the main WEG forums and creating somesort of a online download area.

Questions.... Is this kosher first off? Maybe Hellreach could answer that.

Is there someone or someones that has the time and talent to take point on this?

And lastly is there even enough intrest to start something like this?

I have no real issue with it. I'll neither try to prevent it or endorse it... for now.

My suggestion, based on my work on D6 Universe, is to make sure you get authorization from the people who's work you use. Simply grabbing the information and putting it in a PDF, even putting the PDF out for free, might get somebody's feathers in a ruffle. So, once the information is gathered, attempt to contact all of the people that you have information from and ask for their permission to put it in a PDF and circulate the PDF for free.

People that don't want their stuff shared this way (and yes, some do...even though they put it up on a website or discussion board), abide by their wishes and don't put the info in a PDF. Save the info, so it's available in more than one area only, but don't share it in the work you're doing. If people say it's okay, or they don't care either way, then put the information into the PDF. If you cannot get the person, and you make as much of an effort as possible...including trying to contact them by other means if you can find other ways... then put the information in the PDF but put a disclaimer that the information is included without being able to contact the original author. If the author wishes to not have their material published in such a manner, please contact the creator of the PDF and ask for them to remove it. And then make sure, if you ever hear from someone that doesn't want their stuff shared, that you actually remove the material like you said you would.

Those are the only suggestions I can make at the moment.

I can't speak for Hellsreach but as long as you make it clear that it's fan made material and not officially backed by WEG you should be fine.
