I've been working on an Open Supplement License for MasterBook, meaning that you could create free and commercial worldbooks for the system royalty-free. Apart from a fixed sentence using the MasterBook name, a new trademark and logo will be attached for open use - MasterWorld™. In other worlds, you won't be able to refer to MasterBook apart from the fixed sentence, but the MasterWorld logo can be used in much the same way Green Ronin uses M&M Superlink. I'm finalizing this and hope to get it completed by the time I rerelease the MasterBook Companion.

BTW, reprinted MasterDeck cards are now available once again. They are larger than the original cards, now being poker-sized.

A couple of questions, just for some of us who might be fuzzy on some things: Are you the official copyright holder of MasterBook now? And for those of us unfamiliar with Masterbook, is there any way to get a brief synopsis of what the system of MasterBook is like?

1. Yes, Precis Intermedia holds the rights to MasterBook.
2. Are you familiar with Torg? It is similar, only with 2d10 rather than d20. Roll 2d10, get bonus number from table on char sheet and add it to attribute + skill to defeat difficulty number. The outcome can directly affect damage and other actions. The card deck adds special bonuses, can be used for initiative and provides other effects for different types of action, as well as introducing subplots.

That's good news for Masterbook fans. Thanks for the updates!

This is very interesting!

Anyone have a MasterBook setting or a ShatterZone solar system lying around just waiting to be published?

I am also wondering about which opportunities this opens up to TORG fans. Although you couldnt reference TORG, the systems are similar enough...

MasterWorld is the trademark for royalty-free publications for MasterBook when used with its Open Supplement License.

Am I reading it wrong or does this lisence require the final product to be reviewed and approved by Precis Intermedia before it can be published?

That is correct. It's just to maintain the integrity of MasterWorld.

I can see some issues without it :)
