Subject: Converting D6 to D6 Legend
Since a couple of months, I've been using D6 legend instead of the regular D6 system for my Star Wars games. I always thought that adding a lot of dices was not helping the game speed. D6 legend is definitely faster to use. And it's a really painless conversion to do.
For those who don't know, it's the system that has been introduced in the Hercules & Xena rpg as the D6 prime system. Now it's used in the DC universe RPG and will be used in the upcoming WEG science-fiction rpg.
In Legend however, they don't use the +1 or +2 after their die code. I use them this way:For a +1, you roll one more die, and if the wild die comes up with a 6, it counts as a success and reroll as usual. But if it comes up with any other result, it's not a success. Example: 2D+1. You roll 3dices and the results are 2,3 and 5 for the wild die. Only one success because the wild die represents the +1 and needed a 6 to be successful. Another roll: 1,2 and 6 for the wild die, 5 for the reroll. 2 Successes. The +1 did the job now!
For a +2, you roll one more die, and if the wild die comes up with a 5 or 6, it count as a success and reroll the 6 as usual. But if it comes up with any other result, it's not a success. Example: 2D+2. You roll 3dices and the results are 2,3 and 5 for the wild die. Two successes because the wild die represents the +2 and a 5 is needed. Another roll: 1,2 and 6 for the wild die, 5 for the reroll. 2 Successes. The +2 did the job now! One last roll, 2,2 and 4 for the wild die... 0 successes because the wild die is below 5.
I run combat in the normal Star Wars way. For damage purpose I use this chart:
Damage roll minus the strength roll
Up to 1 Stun
2 Wounded
3 Incapacitated
4 Mortally wounded
5 Dead
It's a little less lethal for damage but is sometimes merciless. The system is fast and furious, making it more Star Wars. I intend to use it in my MIB games and any other D6 using games.
