I am so stoked!
Yeah, I already had this book but now I have a spare.
Thus the thread can now degrade intoa general free for all about TORG books bought cheap and sundry similar topics.
Please?

I think I should elaborate...
This was in a local used book store.
They have a shelf of "used" RPGs, many of which seem to be part of an "overstock" allotment from somewhere.

Sorry, this is not about TORG. (I think TORG is an interesting concept for a game, and I played a few advetures of it all the way back when it was brand new. But I've never owned it or played it since.)

I thought I was the only one that bought spares. I don't have any dupes of suppliments, but I do own 3 copies of Star Wars 2E R&E.
One copy is on my bed stand, and another is by my desk downstairs in my secret underground lair. The 3rd is on my bookshelf. I originally bought the extras (used but in excellent condition) to be for lending to other players or GMs, but I also like having the extra reading/reference copies around the house.

The only thing I ever recall seeing shrink-wrapped was the box set. Sourcebooks appeared as-is on the shelves in my neck of the woods . . . not that it matters, just curious.
I've been slowly piecing a collection back together over the past six weeks, mostly via eBay. Don't think I have gotten any deals on the order of a mint SB for $3, but they have generally been pretty fair. I just picked up a minty 1st printing box set with 2 Drama Decks and the Eternium die, which I was afraid I would never see again. :D TORG stuff in LN/shelf-worn condition seems to go for roughly half of the original cover price most of the time -- if you are lucky you can get a bargain to the tune of $1 on the modules. (I'm not sure if I wanna know how cheap it all went for in the great WEG fire sale of 2002(?)). On the opposite end of the spectrum, I just saw an Orrorsh SB go for $20, and I myself paid $25 for the Berlin Citybook (which I will likely regret when I get around to reading it).

Correct. That book was not shrink wrapped from WEG. That said, as that book is well and fully sold out and has been for many years, it's a good snag. Especially for $3.

WOO HOO!
I dunno what I have then.
Should I open it to discover if it has been faked or something?

I think it was a either a used book or could be a new book and the store owner has a shrink wrap machine. By placing the book in the wrap increasing the appeal visually of the book being worth more than it is. Giving that the Torg books hasn't sold, it was a super low cost way to enhance its selling appeal - Which work 8-)

It is also common for some game retailers to shrink wrap most of their books, while perhaps leaving just one copy open. Then, all potential customers will thumb through a single book, leaving all others in pristine, saleable condition. It is quite useful for saving the spines on inventory.

Do you have any Torg inventory left or have you sold it all?
