Hey. I was talking to myself again (stop it! no you stop it!) and was thinking of doing a one-time marathon Septimus session using the chatroom here on the fan forum site. Just a saturday afternoon through late evening Eastern US time. (Europeans and abroad obviously welcome to join in too). I'd like to target December 21st, but I can move that back a bit if too many are leaving town for xmas to get a decent showing.

What ya' think? Any takers?

Okay, is it just me or is December 21st NOT a Saturday?

So were you shooting for a Saturday, or were you shooting for December 21st which is a Monday?

Oops. 19th. I must have switched years and not months on my calendar when I looked at it.

Another question (and this is only because I'm trying to make it so others will know as well and that I might be interested too): Are the characters going to be pregenerated, like a plug-in-the-player type or is there going to be a character generating time period at the start before play starts?

And how "completely new to Septimus" will this game be for players? Will players need to know not only how to generate a character in the system but also know a fair bit abou the setting and things in the game in order to play it? Or will you take people who know the barest minimum about it? (basically those that don't own the softcover or PDF)

All in all, I think it sounds like a great idea, but I'm just trying to figure out what types of players your looking to have in the game.

I would also welcome someone entering the game with their own generated characters. Just PM me your character sheet and I'll make any suggestions I can. You can use the Septimus priority system, or the character point system as described in the erratta thread here in this forum.

Basically, any type of player would be welcome. I will design the adventure to be able to be run in 4+ hours time in the chatroom, and if its going well and people want to continue, I'll have a couple extra scenes on hand to extend it.

If overall it is successful and people enjoy it enough to want to do it again, we can schedule that after the fact.

In summary: all experience levels welcome. I will have plenty of characters on hand and posted online to pick from. OR you can bring your own rolled up characters. (I recommend you have two on hand so we can mix and match folks in some balanced fashion...)

If enough people reply with "interest", I'll post a prologue story, which may help you design a character if you want to go that route. It will fit in alongside the story chapter I am writing for the community fanmag.

I'm going to assume from lack of replies that we will not have enough interest to warrant prep-work. No prob at all. Just wanted to state that I am not pursuing this at this time.

I might have been interested if I could get my hands on a legendary hardback copy of the book first.

I'll re-gauge interest once it is fully released. I'm thinking of just doing an occasional pick-up game of just about anything d6 related on late friday or saturday evenings. I saw someone else here stating they wanted to do pick-up game of star wars, I think it would be neat to perhaps "schedule" a pickup night. once or twice a month, and just have a "guest GM". Just let it be whatever it may be. If something catches on, the guest shows up the next few times too. Otherwise, you just do small scenarios in this that or the other genres. Keeping the characters and plot lines available to hand to another GM if needed. Might be an interesting sandbox if you will for people trying to test new material. 2 birds one night thing.

The one thing I've learned over the years of attempting Play by post and table-top, commital is difficult. I'd much rather occasionally have folks show up, when they can, and just relax and have fun playing d6; regardless of genre.

That's a great idea. But since a single adventure can still take a long tme to play out pbp, even that can be a commitment issue. What would be a considered mini-campaign in table top gaming may take seveal years pbp. But I like the short term idea in general, and I hope it works.

How bout we all meet the first Saturday of each month, perhaps 8pm Eastern time and later, and just do a pickup game of choice on the spot. GMs just come with a few plot lines spelled out but not fully fleshed, and bamn, impromptu playing. GMs just bring 8 pre-made characters to chose from, and bamno.

I think its the only way to get online gaming here moving. Pick a single day a month, and go for it.
