Has anyone sat down and designed characters from the various comics using D6 Powers? Specifically I'd love to see some of them built as examples (IE: With point costs for powers, attributes, skills, etc) to help get a better idea of how the system works. I'd love to see someone like Green Arrow and his various arrow types done up with gadget rules to help get an understanding of those too. Just curious. Thanks.

Jerry has. I'll see if I can find what he's done and repost or link them.

These are interesting and useful, but what I would really love to see is a couple examples (especially of gadget heavy heroes) broken down on a point per point basis. I guess I'm having the most trouble wrapping my head around gadgets and I'm not sure why.

Some good character listings, with relative strengths and their powers can be found here:

http://www.classicmarvelforever.com/

Check under the Profiles pull-down menu.

It's in the original TSR formats, but it's decent information to have handy to check relative strengths of characters. You will find some characters that are lesser known in there, which could be food for thought.

Hello Mike,

First off that’s for the D6 support and interest. I really appreciate when someone buys one of my products.

What is it in particular about the gadget/artifact rules that are giving you problems? Is it the construction, the point totals, or something else entirely?

It's the general construction, I guess. How you use powers to reprsent different abilities.

Omni gadgets seem odd to me too. I understand they can't be used for combat based gadgets, but they'd be for having a variety of tools under one gadget? Things like grappling hooks and what other kind of stuff?

Really like the book. Even though neither of my players in the PbP are using it I want to use it for badguys, other heroes and maybe to build a few gadgets to give to the PCs down the road.

It's the general construction, I guess. How you use powers to represent different abilities.
The best way to start is to determine what effect you want to emulate with the gadget. Is it a flare use the Flash power

You need molecular adhesion boots to climb walls? Use the Wall Crawling power.

A Tangler Grenade that shoots out a net and captures a foe then use the Entangle power.

Once you create the gadget you define the effect and how it looks and functions.

The Entangle power could be a spider web, an energy net, or ropey tentacles coming from the users mouth but all do the same thing. Gadgets work the same way.

Omni gadgets seem odd to me too. I understand they can't be used for combat based gadgets, but they'd be for having a variety of tools under one gadget?
Omni gadgets are nebulous until defined by the player at the time of use. They represent a hero having the right tool at the right time like the Batman. He always has a torch, a rebreather, or a fire extinguisher when he needs one. Since I can’t imagine a player writing up every gadget they might carry the Omni Gadget covers this.

Things like grappling hooks and what other kind of stuff?
Mundane gadgets like grappling hooks and shovels can be created using the rules but why bother? The rules were created with items that are a bit more fantastic in mind.

Grappling hooks would give the user a bonus to their climbing skill.

If it’s a swing line like Batman uses then use the Swinging power

Do the above come close to answering your questions? If not shoot some more my way and I’ll try my best to help

WHAT!!!
We need to fix that. Is the game running on these forums?

Helping. I'll try and put some gadgets together, post them here and you can help see if I'm making sense. :D Started a new thread for the gadget examples and questions:
http://www.wegfansite.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1261

I do plan to try and stat up a couple Marvel characters and post them here in the next few days.

Yeah it's the Men of Mystery PbP ( http://www.wegfansite.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=60 ). It's a Power Level 2 game. One of them had it, but didn't really need it for his PC and the other didn't have it, I told them to use stuff from Adventure, but build their characters will the 100 points. Seems to have worked. Like I said, I plan to use it for badguys. Some built on the same PL and a few major baddies at PL3.
