I remember seeing *somewhere* the formula for determining roughly how strong a storm should be (In terms of Reality, damage from lightning, speed of wind, etc) but for the life of me I can't recall where or the formula itself.

I *think* it was as strong as the two largest differences averaged. or maybe combined.

Nuts.

Help!

Anybody know?

(In the above instance, if it was, say, a storm along the Living Land/Core Earth border, the biggest differences woul dbe tech (23 vs 7) and Spirit (24 vs 9), for either a 16 (If averaged) or 31 (!) if added.)

There is no formula for determining the strength of a reality storm. You may be misremembering the formula for determining reconnection difficulties which is based on axiomatic differences between realms.

Guidelines for border storm difficulties are on p161 of the R&E under "Storm Strengths".

I do also remember something about storm strength, but in my memory this was not about adding storms but about the storms of the Cyberpapacy. Maybe you meant this from the Cyberpapacy sourcebook:

The Reality Storms effectively isolate the Cyberpapacy from the rest of Earth. The storm has a value of which ranges from 10 (at the mildest) to 25 (at its most extreme). The average strength of the Storm is 20 against individual characters; Ords are attacked with a damage value of 20, while stormers and Storm Knights must use their reality skill (see below). The most fierce storms are over the English Channel. There the realities of Core Earth, Aysle and the Cyberpapacy clash together. Bolts of lightning sear the cloud filled skies as plumes of water soar up from the boiling waters of the Channel. Over the English Channel the reality storm has an average value of 23.

I can't recall or find any other reference to storm strength. But maybe there is one in the infiniverse newsletters somewhere.

R&E, which I don't have. D'oh.

Got almost everything ELSE, just not that one.

A quick summary of the information there:

Standard storm: Average Strength 15
Highly contested area: Average Strength somewhere between 18 and mid-20s
Cyberpapacy: Average Strength 22 (they intentionally turned theirs up)
Nippon: Average Strength 12 (they intentionally turned theirs down)
Star Sphere: Average Strength 8 and are rare occurrences.

In general, the stronger the storm, the more likely it is to attack reality as opposed to a more physical attack.
