Considering we have Septimus forum, should we perhaps have a Star Wars forum? Star Wars is definitely a popular at one time WEG world (even if no longer WEG)

Not like it's my decision, but I think WEG Star Wars is past it's prime, with no hope of returning. It's pretty difficult to even find the books anymore.

The question I have is will there be enough interest to make it worthwhile?

I could set it up and we can see if there is enough interest

Never played, no interest. But I am just one voice.

I have set up a forum (to replace the Masterbook Forum that no one was using) We will see how it goes.

If you know people interested in Star Wars D6 let them know about the forum and lets get some traffic going.

The only problem with this is that there is already an entire discussion board dedicated entirely to D6 Star Wars. It's called the Rancor Pit. So, if you're talking about enough interest in general....there are a hundred or so posters over on the Rancor Pit boards that think there's interest enough. However, I don't see them leaving that site to come over here and chat about Star Wars.

As far as Star Wars D6 being "past its prime", I don't think that would have any bearing on whether a forum should be created or not. Septimus never will be in D6, but it got its own forum, simply because it was "going" to be a D6 product.

And as far as getting the D6 Star Wars books....there's plenty out there. If you visit the Rancor Pit you'll find people talking about where to find them. Or you could visit the Holonet over at SWRPGNetwork.com and can find posts about people selling their Star Wars books. So they're around...you just need to know where to look.

While this is true Grimace I guess it gives people multiple places to discuss Star Wars.

We will give it a try and see what happens (http://www.wegfansite.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?34-Star-Wars-D6-Discussion-Forum)

Personally, I found the simplicity of Star Wars RPG to be a major selling point (I started with 1st Ed., back in the day). A big point of a Star Wars area would be what's available (sample solo adventures for newcomers--such as that in the 1st Ed. main rulebook, or game recommendations, or querries in regard to the venue).

I'm still a SWRPG (D6) devotee, even if my books are showing signs of their age...

We have stores called Half Price Books here in the Indy area, and you can often find RPG books in there. I have probably a 3-4foot section of book shelves dedicated to d6 SW RPG, 90% of which I got from Half Price.

I would love to be able to get ahold of some D6 SW stuff. Those are the only books I have ever sold that I have regretted selling.

I got some from bookstores as the system was in print for a while when I was getting RPG books, the rest from eBay or used shelf at the game store

Mike, try www.amazon.com, I think you can find anything you want there. I recently bought some $5 flashlights there. 9 white LEDs each, they came with 3 batteries included and are made of metal. Excellent quality for $5. You can't beat that.

I'm also in school, and I check for my schoolbooks there first. I can usually save 30% or more over my school bookstore.

I'd be amazed if you can't find 2nd ed SW RPG stuff there.

For example:

http://www.amazon.com/Star-Wars-Imperial-Sourcebook-2nd/dp/0874312108/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1219590028&sr=8-1

A pleasant surprise:

http://www.amazon.com/Star-Gamemaster-Screen-Editon-Revised/dp/0874312884/ref=sr_1_10?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1219590028&sr=8-10

If these are really worth $120 each, I'm putting one of my 2 on Ebay. :)

Oh, and I believe this might be part of the magic you're looking for.

I got my 2nd ed R&E from Amazon 2 years ago. Well, my sister, who was my first player, bought it for me, really. Costed about $10.

I found a good copy of SW D6 R&E on Ebay and I am bidding on it. If that doesnt work I will look at Amazon again

I love Half-Price Books! We have 5 of them in Columbus.

I couldn't afford to get all the 2E books I wanted back when they were originally released between '92 and '98, so in the past couple years I have completed my collection between only 4 sources: Half-Price Books, Amazon.com, eBay and Half.com (stripped down version of Amazon.com owned by eBay, and uses same log in as eBay). Almost all of the books were in near mint condition and much cheaper than the original retail price even after shipping.

I may post a thread in the Star Wars forum with my suggestions of which books are vital to play for various types of adventures.

But I wanted to reply in this thread that just because a game is no longer officially supported or currently in print doesn't mean there is no reason to have a forum for it. Some of us have the game and play it.

And some of us feel it's still the best game out there even though it hasn't been published in a decade.

Do you think that there are a great deal of SW D6 books because people are dumping them for the D20 version or because people are getting out of gaming?

Theres some, but dont think there is a huge amount . . . . people seem to like to hold onto their Star Wars books

Probably a little of both. D6 Star Wars was great, but I think most people can only play the same game for so long with no updates or new material before moving on.

Actually getting rid of their old copies is very likely a means of freeing up shelf space.

Sadly, several years ago when I was down on my luck, I sold most of my Star Wars D6 books to grab a quick buck. Of course at that time, I wasn't playing anything, so for me it wasn't to have money for other games.

Then more recently in life after my Fund dice recovered, I re-purchased everything I had sold, and then some. And I purchased several of the Star Wars d20 books as well, for reference (not for game mechanics - I have never had the slightest desire to play "D&D in space").

I still have my original 2E R&E rule book, and my beloved 1E book that I bought nearly 21 years ago.

Yep. The thing is I hear the complaint that Star Wars D20 is "D&D in space".

Now I dont like D20, I am honest about that but I just dont see how D20 can do SW better then D6. D6 to me feels like Star Wars.

That's just my opinion

Amen brother. D6 was designed to be a cinematic RPG system. From my own experiences with D&D and from reading the d20 Star Wars books, D6 wins is clearly the better system for Star Wars.

Plus the detail. Oh god how the books were really well detailed. They have so much information about the setting and didn't skimp.

The D20 books. Not so much. I have have heard the same things from fans of the D20 SW game.

I don't mind the current version of d20SW, the SW Saga Edition. It takes some concepts from D&D, but applies many of its own. I love the old d6SW books ... just wish I'd kept the danged things ...

It's funny, with the Saga system I hear some people say it's great and others say it is still way too complicated (a complaint I hear often on why people didnt like the earlier versions of the D20 SW game).

I dunno. For me I think D20 works for D&D and if I want to play SW I will stick with the original, D6 SW.

I've been considering doing some stuff with the d6 system ... maybe run some d6 Star Wars if it hits the rotation in group ;) I'm just hoping that we see the Open d6 project go foward.

Well you aren't the only one who hopes Open D6 will happen. With the pending sale who knows.

I wish Eric could have sold it seperate from the overall sale of WEG. Not only would something be happening with D6 but he would probably have the money to pay back the pre-orders.

I have all incarnations of the d20 Star Wars. I think that each revision has been better than the previous edition. I won't go nearly as far as stating that it's great, because I don't think any d20 product is great. But it seems that Saga is the best version of d20 Star Wars so far, and a little less complicated. But it's still d20.

It's like saying that Calculus I is less complicated than Calculus II. Sure it's less complicated, but it's still Calculus, you know?

I love Star Wars D6. I am playing in a play by post group but when my local group gets together I would like to play an in person game.
