I plan on sandbox'ing my own ideas openly on-line, and this got me thinking, we seem to have a lot of good folks here with great ideas ; why not pick a genre to co-author a fully opend6 offering on? For example, we seem to all like Mecha rpgs for one reason or another, I'd love to see us group together as an OpenD6 Guild if you will to produce individual offerings to the opend6 site? But perhaps use a single thread here to sandbox thoughts?
For example, for a generic slew of Mecha or Powered Armor or Cybernetics offerings, if you have 10 people out there coming up with 10 complete visions of what they want to offer, without grouping them into palpable, digestible offerings to the OpenD6 site ; what I forsee is a lot of folks submitting LARGE books, none of which take each other into account design wise. I think for the sake of usable opend6 material, to buttress the idea of open source in general, it would be more powerful for individual authors to provide pieces to the puzzle, but in an organized fashion.
Of course, this is completely separate from individual full rpg books or pdfs folks are working on. I'm not talking rpg communism here. BUT, a collective, for given genres, to produce individual section submissions to the opend6 site....
ponder, reply, throw eggs, but please wash me off when your done :)
Overall Suggestions:
Mecha Sandbox
Espionage Sandbox
Space Opera Sandbox
Modern Combat Sandbox
WW2 Combat Sandbox
Steampunk Sandbox
Just add them slowly, one at a time once 3 or more folks here want to start bantering about a given genre, and then you can actually organize your opend6 ideas into more manigle and practical results.
