View Full Version : WEG 4 should push TORG

If Scott Palter/Agingcow 's WEG was WEG 1, Humanoid Publishing was WEG2, Eric's (current) is WEG 3 then whoever buys WEG from Eric could be considered WEG4.
Anyway, I'm thinking time is right for more TORG. Heck, even if time isn't right, TORG needs to get back into the spotlight. Eric says he already has alot of work done for TORG2. If a TORG2 book isn't feasible, WEG4 (or even Eric) should start selling pdfs with piecemeal TORG2 material. Small pdfs at a low cost would be something alot of people might drop a few bucks on even if they aren't running TORG anymore.
Thoughts?

If he sells everything he wouldn't have ther rights to the PDF's which you mentioned. I have to assume as well, if he is trying to sell the business, dripping out pieces of unfinished work for one of his systems might be a sore mark against him to those wanting to buy the company. People might have their own vision they want to do with the system and this new content he would be putting out might go against what they envision.
I want to see more Torg stuff out there, but I think it is gonna happen, if it ever does, with this WEG4 owner.

Absolutely seconded.
I'm pretty sure, there are good market chances for an OpenTorg :D
It's playable with (nearly?) every genre - and cross-genre, as well,
thanks to Jasyn you can go anywhere from superhero to gritty (although the Action Cant could use a good name and be expanded even further)
lots of different worlds are doable (you have to put some work in a world/cosm creation system, but I think there's so much material available that it's not unfeasable)
the game system is great. Again, put some work into attributes, skills and FX but there is already a lot of stuff done.
In short, everything GURPS is not ;)

I would love to see that happen. Apparently Eric has gotten pretty far into Torg 2.0.
If he were to sell everything but Torg or even sell Torg but contact with the new owner of WEG to put out an updated version of torg that would be really cool.

I have always thought that should have been the focus of Eric's regime. And if his Torg 2.0 doesn't happen, I might have to expedite Torg MKE and get it ready for publication.

Eric seemed to have entered into company ownership without the large outlay of cash to really push the product and thus he was always looking to D6 to spontaneously generate huge quantities of cash (without advertising or even attempting to garner any customer awareness by any means), cash with which TORG2 could then be launched with and the company would spring fully into life like some strange magic trick.
We all hoped that magic trick would happen, but it never did.
And if his Torg 2.0 doesn't happen, I might have to expedite Torg MKE and get it ready for publication.
I doubt HIS TORG2 will happen, and I shudder to think what TORG MKE might mean.
But I have TORG1.0 and unless a company actually physically publishes a TORG2, I'll stay with TORG1.0
(I should buy 1.5 but I never have the cash and at this rate doubt my store could get a copy to arrive anyway.)

Lets try and keep this thread focused on the future rather than the past. Assuming WEG4 has all the IPs intact and still intend to go on doing D6, I think it would be a good idea to publish combined D6/TORG products.
For instance, how about a D6 Adventure World Book called Nile Heroes, which actually features the Terra Cosm of the Nile Empire, set perhaps some time before the Reality War? TORG stuff might be downplayed, but with lots of fluff that could be interesting for TORG fans as well. Similar D6 World books could be published for all of the TORG cosms. This would allow for some reuse of old material, although each book should include something new for the TORG crowd as well. Finally TORG conversions or stats could be provided in the back, and the TORG logo and the title, compatible with TORG could be placed somewhere on the front cover, so that the product could also work as a TORG advetisement.

This may be a silly question but what is TORG MKE?
