View Full Version : [ShatterZone] Edeinos and Star Sphere Races from TORG in SZ

Making adjustments for tech level, I think a civilization of Edeinos would work quite well in the ShatterZone Universe. Heck, their home planet might even have Dinosaurs.

I have also been thinking about bringing in some of the Star Cosm races for ShatterZone, though I would probably _lower_ their tech level to be on the level with the rest of the SZ Universe.

Any thoughts on any of this?

IMO, the tech level isn't the question. SZ is its own realm. High Tech, High Social (High PSI if you add that in the TORG axioms), but virtually no Spirit or Magic. The Star Cosm could be an alien race for sure, but the Living Land...that might be a bit more tricky.

I did have a planet I created for my game that was covered in Self-Aware plant. Actually two plants. They were divided around the equator where the stars rays were too intense for the plant to invade/grow there. It really wasn't one plant, but rather a combination of organic plants that once grown together effectively created a 'brain. It could regenerate itself and used Psionics to communicate with other intelligent beings. It was very Living Land though as anything that was not organic and living would be comsumed into the landscape in a very short time. Obviously the tougher the object the longer it took. A communication device would be gone in an hour, but the hull of a space ship might last a week, two if it was military grade.

So if you made the Living Land something like that, as long as the Edeinos were on the planet, the plant could effectively be Lanala and provide what the Edeinos what through the Psionics. The Stats you gave it could provide the "miraculous" events to marvel those off world.

Plot Point? The plant realizes an asteroid was going to slam into it (guess what years I ran this part of SZ?) and psionically pulled the players to it to deal with the asteroid. Reward? Depends on the players in the group. Perhaps they don't die of an infection the plant gave them. Perhaps it'll provide riches by pulling them up from the ground.

*ponder* I really liked that planet. It took the players a while to figure it out, but they seemed very scared of it. Of course it was SZ, they were peons playing with kings, and knew it. That would be scary.
