Hello everyone,
As a long time fan of TORG - I ran a 4 yeat campaign way back when - I've always thought of which Cosms would work if TORG were revamped and which ones are too embedded in the Nineties to work any more.
For example, in the early '90s the "threat" of an economic takeover of the US by the Japanese was on everyone's minds. Today? Not so miuch. Thus I fear that Kanawa (as it was written) would not be on my top of my list.
So to start it off, my top 3 picks would be:
1. The Nile Empire - I'm a HUGE Pulp fan!
2. Tharkoldu - Nothing says TORG to me more than Techno-Demons.
3. Orrorsh - If you don't have the Guant Man, its just not TORG.
While I also enjoyed running my player's through the Land Below and I love the concepts of the Cyberpapacy, those other 3 top my list.
What about you guys?
Best,
skeloric

1. Nile Empire
2. Tharkold.
3a. Orrorsh
3b. Marketplace
Third place is a tie as I really can't pick one over another.
My list is a pretty close match to your own otherwise.

Hello Skeloric,
Marketplace? I know its been a few years, but I'm drawing a blank on that one.
Care to refresh my memory, Skeloric?

tech 24
magic 2
spirit 8
World Laws covering betrayal and revenge as well as a strange "Rich get richer and poor get poorer" that isn't so much an imperative as it is a general outgrowth of corporations holding political power.

Hello Skeloric,
Ah..all I had to see was that "Rauru Block" and it clicked.
I'd forgotten that Kanawa's Cosm was named Marketplace.
I must admit, it never really grabbed me, although I had the one "mandatory" ninja PC that had a blast until that run at the City of Demons.
Thanks!

I also ran a weekly campaign for more than 4 years and it was the best roleplaying campaign I ever ran.
My top 3:
1. Nile Empire
2. Cyberpapacy
3. Orrorsh
The Land Below was kind of a tie, as well. I'd either merge it with the New Nile or Living Land (although the "Cadillacs & Dinosaurs" approach somebody mentioned might make it interesting, as well).

1. Nile Empire
2. Cyperpapacy
3. Star Sphere (Yeah I know its broken, but I still love the concept!)
Hmmm...no room for Aysle. Not much of a patriot am I :o

As a GM I'd have to say my top three were the Nile, Cyberpapacy and Orrorsh. My players though would probably have said that their top two were the Nile and Aysle and it'd be a tossup for third between Nippon Tech and Space Gods.

Difficult to say, as I rather see the potential than what WEG did with the worlds. My regular players would say:
Nile
Land Below
Aysle (though one of them hates Aysle)
From what WEG did with it, I vote for:
Orrorsh
Star Sphere
Nile
From the potential it is rather different:
Cyberpapacy
Aysle
Nile

With rare exception, the Nile Empire has made every list.

1. Nile Empire
2. Aylse - I know some people complain it is not fleshed out enough, but what Torg Cosm really is?
3. Star Sphere - With less emphasis on space zombies, defeating the Comaghaz for good definitely on my GM to do list.
4. Land Below - It has to Below, I love the concept of Domed Worlds. I still want to get around to designing my own. :) Although when people started making up Domed Worlds with new cosms in me they lost me.
5. Orrosh - I love how the Horrors and the Ecology of Fear.
6. Cyberpapacy - The christian mythology really adds a lot of flavor and story ideas, which is why it beat out Marketplace, it was close
7. Marketplace - More Ninja! I always had an idea of introducing competing Ninja clans, each with a different style of Ninjitsu.
8. T'zravok - I love me some Ravagons. I give them some slack since they are not really supposed to be a place to send PC's. More a place villians come from.
9. Tharkold - as much as I like Tharkoldu, the WL's do not seem to work for me. I still to this day have no idea how a story set in Tharkold is supposed to be structured. In Nile it is melodramatic and action packed. In Marketplace, sneaky intrigue and double crosses rule the day. In Orrosh the PC's have to slowly figure out how to kill the monster while losing as few of their party as possible. Tharkold? Idk.

1. Nile Empire/Terra - they are rather different, but I can't quite decide which I prefer.
2. Cyberpapacy
3. Land Above/Land Below:Merretika
@ Zack: I always played Tharkold and the Race based on how Kyle Reese and the Resistance were portrayed in the two Terminator movies. The first concern of everyone in that Cosm (and the realm to an extent) is victory. There is no room for compromise. Even a Transformed Earther will be constantly thinking in terms of tactics and potential dangers. Even if you can get one to relax and have fun, they will still have a weapon handy and an eye out for trouble. Kidding around and joking are not normal. However, they are not given to unnecessary violence, such as firing a Thav/9 full-auto into the air, wall, or a guy who is clearly dead - its a waste of vital resources.
Tharkoldu Demons will constantly be jockeying for position with each other - my portrayal of Thratchen used an impression of Chris Latta's Starscream voice (from the original G1 series) though more intelligent. Among the Race, there is some competition for rank, but humans are more likely to cooperate (that is submit to a superior).

1) Tharkhold - Tharkold was the first cosm book I bought and only TORG book I've rebought, since my first copy started falling apart. It's also one of the books I continually reference outside of TORG as well. There's something about the concept of the Race, a society under siege for thousands of years, as well as the Tharkoldu's hermaphroditic "origin of the universe" story, where Oom-Zhan rapes the Universe, because it completely tells you how their society is by reading that. Greg Gorden and Paul Hume put a lot of thought into that book.
2) Nile Empire - who doesn't like pulp fiction antics?
3) Orrosh - it's hard to say why I like it. I think it has a lot to do with how drenched in fear the setting is supposed to be.
